CLAUDE PARENT; ARCHITECTURAL FICTIONS
Extended through November 5, 2023!
Claude Parent’s drawings exhibition in Los Angeles, CA.
October 14-November 5 2023
at THE FRONT
The Claude Parent Archives and The Front are pleased to announce the opening of
Claude Parent – Architectural Fictions on October 14, 2023 from 6-9 pm, at The Front, 2207 N. Broadway in Los Angeles. This will also be a rare opportunity for collectors and architects to view and acquire Claude Parent’s visionary drawings before they are returned to the archive in Paris in November of this year.
This new exhibition of acclaimed French architect’s drawings focuses on the significance of drawing as means to communicate an idea. The original graphite works on paper from the Claude Parent Archives in Paris on exhibit at The Front, most of them never seen in Los Angeles, do not represent actual proposals for buildings, but rather offer speculations on the possibility of the Oblique Function at various scales and applications, what Parent called architectural fictions. The work shown will also include study and preparatory sketches. Read more about Claude Parent’s drawings.
Some of the drawings presented at The Front are featured in the
Claude Parent: Visionary Architect book published by Rizzoli NY, but have never been shown in Los Angeles.
The exhibition will be open to public for two weekends
(October 14-October 15 and October 21-October 22) from 12pm to 6pm.
During the rest of the week, the exhibition will be shown by appointment only (October 16-October 20) from 1pm to 6pm.
To make an appointment to visit during the week or to inquire about availability of drawings, please contact us at contact (at) claudeparent.fr or text to 213.399.4123.
